Picked up the PS3 again two days ago, and bought several games. But I sit here and look at them and don't know what to play first.

Gran Turismo 5
Devil May Cry 4 CE
Metal Gear Solid 4
Lego Indiana Jones

I also *finally* picked up a PS2 ( new version with no power brick) . I have never bought one of these. But here is the games I picked up with it.

Metal Gear Solid Essential Collection
Castlevania: Lamment Of Innocence
Castlevania: Curse Of Darkness
God Of War II
Tomb Raider
Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater

All are good games. So which one should I start and play to finish first ?

Play the MGS EC first, than MGS 4.

Man, I hate DMC, I've hated it ever since I played the first one on PS1. Camera angles are barf inducing, and lighting is so bad I couldn't see half of the things on screen. Never again.

All of them.

If you don't screw around with all of them at least a bit before going far and finishing one, you won't "feel" it. On the rare occasion that I have more than 1 new game, I get prematurely sick of the one I choose to start with, and just can't wait to finish it so I can move on. In retrospect, few were actually bad.

The 80gig one with Dual Shock 3. Decided not to get the MGS4 bundle.

I mean *again* because about six months ago, I sold my PS3 like an idiot. :)

Just now picked up Madden 09. Better be good.

There was a Devil May Cry on PSONE ? I thought the first one was on PS2.

Yeah, I saw that, but forgot to ask the OP. Snake Eater is MGS3.

Yes, it's still for PSone. It was never ported to PS2.

It doesn't look that different. It has the original Playstation logo on the spine as well front cover to differentiate it from MGS2/3 that have the PS2 logo on the spine and the front cover.

And before you ask, no, you don't need to buy a Playstation to play MGS.

Even worse. The one in the Essentials collection is Subsistence. If he just bought the original it's not even as good of a game. If he did buy Subsistence he's still ahead because Essentials does not have Disc 2 which comes with the original Metal Gear 1 & 2 (the MSX2 games, not Metal Gear Solid).

Not all of them. In fact, there's currently no PS3s in production that play PS2 games. There's rumors that Sony is working on 100% software emulation (like the 360 does) but nothing official.

Negative. OP said he bought 80GB one with DS3, not the MGS bundle. It is essentially 40GB with no BC with upgraded HD.

Yes, The 80gig upgraded hard drive one. Not the BC bundle. Anyway...you are telling me that Snake Eater is the exact same game thats in the Essential Collection ? ( I bought Snake Eater 3 days before the Essential Collection because I did'nt think I would find the collection ).

If they are the same game, oh well....the packaging is different :) and it was $9.99 brand new in Kmart.

galperi1 : I was going to purchase God Of War...but the only one so far that I have found is the Greatest Hits version. And I don't want that one

onlyCOpunk : The one I bought doesn't. I just grabbed up a slim silver PS2 without the power brick. It is really nice not having the pack.

biggestmuff : If you are implying that the PS2 is backwards compatible with PSONE games...I did not know that. AT ALL. I was always a Nintendo fan and never paid attention to other systems. Until now.

God of War is spectacular. Both are great, but I don't think II is that much improved beyond the first one. There are a few new weapons and abilities, but you end up sticking with your main weapon anyway just like in the first one, as you should.

I would say the first one is the best because it was so unique at the time. Though, if you play the sequel first, you might find the first one weak...it is a good bit shorter.

Why in the heck didn't you just buy a BC-capable PS3? The cost would've evened out and you'd have one less device in your A/V setup.

Not only is the PS2 BC with PS1 games, but so is the PS3. :)

Well, I started thinking *which is never a good thing * And I came up with the conclusion that I would rather just get a PS2 then *my luck it would* take a chance on something happening to the PS3 and having to sending it to SONY, and not receiving the same thing back.

Good call actually. I am terrified that my 60GB will croak because there's no way in hell they will get me a replacement.
