Picked up my new glasses last night and they suck. They have this total "tunnel vision" affect to them where everything except what I am looking at directly is all funky and distorted. I should have just kept the prescription I'm currently wearing. I'm pretty sure there's a 30 day return policy, but I'm sure then they start to charge you for additional things and God only knows how it works with insurance (which by the way I love the fact that even with insurance and using my old frames, these hunks of shit still cost me $110)

So bummed. I was hoping to see clearly again.

Did you happen to go from glasses without nosepads to glasses with nosepads or to smaller lenses?

Hate it when that happens (really--I drive with an old pair because of distortions). Next time, I'm going somewhere that is in with companies using wavefront exam machines to help design the lenses.

If you bought your lenses at the same place that did your prescription, they should re-measure your prescription and replace the lenses for free. Ask for a doctor to take your prescription - not one of the "technicians"

Definitely look into this. I've had the same glasses frames and prescription for over 10 years even though my eyes have definitely gotten worse. I've tried to get glasses twice in that period but both times I feel like the prescription is so strong and I get constant headaches because of it. Even with remeasuring my prescription and making new lenses I'm never satisfied with how they make my eyes feel so I just stick with what I have.

Also I despise the "1 or 2? 3 or 4?" thing. Probably why I can't seem to get a good prescription; I end up overthinking it.

It may not necessarily be the wrong prescription.

The lenses could be rotated on an incorrect axis. Or the PD is off.

This monstrosity. They flip back and forth behind the test lenses to determine what your prescription should be.

THIS.

I am suspecting youve got progressives? Whether you do or not, a different brand may help. The same rx in a Zeiss, for example, will "see" differently than one from Sola. And then there's the digital lenses.

Talk to your doc about it. Youre not stuck.

OK. I've never had a lot of options, there, so didn't connect that with 1-4 selections. I haven't since I was a kid, now that I think about it. It's been reading the chart with nothing, then going between just two a few times. I do hate even that, though, once it gets so close it's really hard to tell. If I had something like that on the other side, rather than random text or lines, I might not dislike it as much, though... :D.

GOD YES. You start to second and triple guess yourself. And then you can't even tell what is clear or what is blurry anymore.

Full disclosure: My eyes are apparently screw according to this doctor. He explained he could give me a prescription to help when I'm at work and in front of a computer and/or looking at my phone -- in essence a "Reading/Computer" prescription. But that would screw up whenever I try to see anything far. Or he could give me a "far" prescription but then that would screw up the Reading/Computer use.

He did not recommend bifocals as I'd have to be looking out the bottom of the lenses then when I sit in front of my PC -- chin elevated.

So I took the Reading/Computer prescription. And they suck for everything. I can't see a damn thing far away and even up close the FOV seems REALLY small. It's sort of like when in some fantasy movie or something and you're supposed to have he POV through some seeing eye-ball or something? The center is clear but everything in the peripheral is "wavy" and "drunk" look.

And Jesus do they hurt my eyes quickly. Like within a minute my eyes are SCREAMING from stress

I will say that in that narrow FOV though things are crystal freaking clear.

That doesn't sound right. There has to be some kind of middle ground somewhere. I'd probably try to get a second opinion and/or really push to see what kind of options you have as far as lenses go.

Get 3 pairs of glasses like I have :)

Regular pair is progressive lenses for normal use. Computer pair which is essentially +1.0 on both lenses. Reading glasses are +2.0 on both lenses.

I'm nearsighted, and can't see up close with glasses on anymore, so I look over the top for quick stuff, or take them off for prolonged. There's a small hole where neither is quite appropriate, and it pisses me off when I hit it.

I got wraparound sunglasses last year, and thought I'd have to get something different. They screwed up my depth perception, and I felt like I was walking on a sphere, where I was always a little short of being on top. I got used to them; mostly.

Progressives did that to me. They were only clear down the center of the lens. Couldn't see all the keys on the keyboard without moving my head. And the distance part of the lens as so high up that I had to hold my head down to drive. 24hrs later, I took them back and got bi-focals.

Seriously go back and have them put you in a different lens. Lenses are not all equal. If possible, ask if their office does "digital" progressives. It cuts waaaaayyyyy down on the troubles youre experiencing.

The pair of glasses I've been using this past year do well when I'm driving. I have to take them off most times when I'm sitting in front of the computer or reading a book. When I was younger, I never had to do this. Anyways, I've never had contacts and probably never will, but I'm curious. What do people do in the same situation when using contacts?

I cannot see out of my right eye. You don't even know frustration until you are blinded.
