Picked up my new car this morning

Roommate bought my 335i from me for a reasonable enough deal and this morning I finalized a deal on a 2012 M3 Coupe. It's Jerez black metallic (has a blue tint in direct light which looks amazing), black extended leather, and carbon fiber trim. It has the competition package, premium package, dual clutch transmission, premium sound, BMW apps, and the automatic high beams. I'll get you guys some pictures whenever I can get close to it without my mind going blank and somehow ending up on the highway.

C63 was a long story, but the TL;DR version is that it didn't feel right when driven compared to others I have been in, and despite the warranty and such I wasn't comfortable with taking it home. A friend picked up an M3 a few months ago and while I initially found it to be boring, it grew on me a lot after getting to drive it and learning to appreciate its precision.

I'm excited to get it to the track ASAP, it just cannot be driven hard enough on the streets. Hopefully I can blow through the break-in period quickly.

 prefer the m3 over the c63. throw up pics and create 10 posts per day, so we don't have to read about that 'other' m3 anymore

I dont think you got the message... Cut the M3 smack got it...

I feel like, despite their price points, they aren't really competitive cars for people who enjoy driving instead of the badge. It's an incredibly different experience driving them, and neither is better or worse necessarily. I've mainly had cars with lots of straight line go with average handling, so this is a bit different for me.

Also, Barman39, I had no intention of stirring up the M3 shit again, just wanted to share my new car, sorry if this thread devolves at all.

I was in a similar situation (sold my 3 series). M3 was one of the options, along with s5. I ended up doing a 180 and getting a 535 instead. I live in a city, and really didn't want to deal with all the potholes and city driving in a sports car...

Yep, 8400RPM redline 😛

I'll get you guys pics later tonight or tomorrow morning, I'm hanging out at work right now and most likely won't get out of here until after dark. I financed part of it for 36 months @ 1.99%, I put down a lot, but I'd rather not get into specifics.

I was asking for a personal loan since you are a rich bastage. Just a corny joke.

Haha, went over my head. My bad.

Not mine, but this is the color and wheels:

Wasn't your 335i was faster 😛

From 0-60ish the M3 is faster because of the gear ratios, DCT, and traction. With launch control it isn't close. The 335i is probably faster above that. Surprisingly different feeling cars though. The only thing that really bothers me is that there are no cheap power adders. This motor is pretty damn maxed out without significant modification. More displacement etc.

Too dark for pics tonight, I'll try and grab you guys a few tomorrow. Not huge on taking pics of my own cars, you can find some great ones of M3s on the net and my photography skills are lacking, but I know you guys need proof 🙂

Nice! Isn't a new M3 coming out next year or is that still a few years off?

Coming out later this year. Not a patient person though, I'll take the hit in a year or so if need be. Made a few grand on the 335i 😛

Very jealous, love that car, great colour choice.

I've noticed a certain M3 fan is suspiciously absent from this thread...

Throw a blower on it......or are turbo's your thing. I really wish forced induction kits were less expensive otherwise I would have a giant Kenne Bell seated at his throne atop my intake.

Not that easy on a n/a engine that is high compression and already strung out from the factory. You'll end up $6000+ in the hole just to be limited to run <= 6 psi and not see the full potential of your money's worth out of the blower. You really need to open up and rebuild the bottom end for it to be worth it.

Meanwhile a factory blown car that was built for boost to begin with has $1000 in mods like a JB4, simple boost controller, etc, is running 19 psi and blowing your doors off after you just spent $10 grand on a bolt on turbo/blower kit for a n/a engine. You could buy 3 335is by the time you build the 4.0L V8 enough to realize the full potential of boost and surpass the factory turbo I6.

You and me both. If the new M3 is a tuner's dream, I may be looking at one. Unfortunately, looking always leads to trouble.

From what I have read is I can safely put 500 to 550 HP to my stock internals. 550 being on the high side of unsafe. I would be happy with that...at least for a while until the bug bit me again.
