Exactly. For what the vehicle is meant to do, it performs just fine. Oh, and are there price specs on that yet? The GT's MSRP is less than the price of the AWD and only $2,950 more than the base model. For the price of that supercharger, you can get the GT and more. :)

I've heard expected price is 2500 for the kit, it's not cheap. Yeah some people might be better off getting the 180 hp model.

The 130ft-lbs of torque at 6800rpms in the GT is less than impressive. The supercharged awd car would be a lot more fun to drive.

Speaking of Pontiac, I saw my first ever Aztec in person yesterday.

A black guy was driving it around. It had low profile tires and gold rims.

It was possibly the ugliest new car I've ever seen on the road.

Note: For all you ATOTers that are going to call me a flaming racist, the only reason I included the part about the guy's color is because you don't typically see black men driving a Pontiac with aftermarket tires/rims. It's usually a Caddy. :p

yeah, HP wise, this car sounds pretty dull. Kinda like the escort I'm trying not to buy. It looks nice though. Too bad-

I believe it costed 18k. Thats including 4000 dollars worth of rebates.

As for horsepower, i know we lost a good 50-60 HP because we got the AWD package. I think I read somewhere that the AWD system can't handle the 180 HP, or something like that. Not to clear on the details. HP isn't a problem since it was for my mom, and she doesn't really care. Also, she really wanted an AWD vehicle or any 4x4 vehicle because we live in Michigan, and our winters can get a little rough. But yeah, if it was for ME, i would have opted for the GT.

Oh and TD mentioned that TRD was makin a supercharger. Well, i read up on that, cause' i was really hoping to buy it. but what do you know... IT WORKS ON ALL VIBE'S EXCEPT THE AWD VERSION!!! :(

OH well... I love this car, it's really nice...

How much did you pay?

If you think it's underpowered, you obviously haven't driven it yet. Just because a vehicle doesn't go 0-60 in <5sec. doesn't mean it's underpowered. You guys are so used to drooling all over exotics that you've forgotten what it's like for the rest of the world when they consider vehicles. News flash, but most of the world can't afford (and doesn't have use for) a supercar. The Vibe is *not* underpowered, by far. It's not overpowered, either. I would prefer to see more HP in it, but that's just me, and I know it's not realistic (well, for me wanting the 405HP 5.7L V8 to fit into a Vibe :p)

For the type of vehicle that it is, the Vibe has plenty of horsepower.
Dude, when I was in Orlando I had a Mitsubishi Outlander rental (which I'm going to equate with the Vibe; its gotta a horribly underpowered 4-banger and AWD.) That thing was so ridiculously slow it nearly got me killed at a traffic light (some 65 year old retiree was coming on fast at 40mph while I tried to make a right on red...edge of my seat experience I tell ya!)

So because some old lady almost hit you and the Vibe didn't instantaneously appear on the other side of the intersection, the Vibe is underpowered?

Please....

If you want a racecar then buy a racecar.

I know the type (frenzo?)...why not remain stopped at the red light untill you can safely proceed, rather than pulling out in front of someone "coming on fast" and then blaming the vehicle for being "underpowered"?

Oh, and you only lost 7 hp versus the base model, which I think drives fine. The engine in the vibe is the same as the one in the Corolla and Celica, and has recieved many glowing reviews and awards.

Before you knock it, Drive it.

yeah, it's funny... all the Vibe models have the same exact engine, but they're just tuned diffrently according to what it kinda model it is and what features it has.

Vibe GT: 180 HP - MANUAL ONLY
Vibe : 130 HP - Automatic Only (I think)
Vibe AWD : 123 HP - AWD (ofcourse) and Automatic Only.

He said it was a rental. I've done the same thing before. Last time I went over to sanfrancisco, the rental place gave me a little cavilear. I started driving it like my car (at the time a maxima) and did pretty much the same thing this guy did. You press the gas expecting to get some movement and get substantially less than what you expect.

That's what I thought! I would have a serious problem telling anyone "Hey! I bought my mom a vibe! She loves it! She rides it every chance she gets!" Ugh!

<<Engine: 1.8L VVT-i, 4-cylinder (123 HP [91.8 kW] @ 6000 rpm, 118 lb-ft [159.3 N-m] @ 4400 rpm)>>

Lol my 11 year old pos civic with .2 less liters produces the same amount of HP and torque.

Yeah, if you read the reviews, they all report that the AWD version is very aniemic and the AWD is not needed since the traction control in the standard version does the job well (and you have the option of getting more HP from a better engine).

I agree though...a Subaru Outback may have been a better choice if you want AWD.

I don't understand why the AWD version has so much less hp and only comes with an auto... anyone care to explain?

Anything else other than GM was outta the question, seeing that my dad has:

Supplier Discount
GM Card Discount
$500 GM Rebate
Non-GM Car discount. (if you look at the SIDE picture, and see a Jeep Wrangler, that's ours)

The AWD system on the Vibe isn't designed for a lot of power. That's why the most expensive Vibe (AWD version) doesn't come with the biggest engine. In order for the supercharger to be applied to the AWD model, the AWD mechanics would have to be completely redesigned or removed entirely.

Not gonna happen.

There should have been more than that. Most regions in the U.S. have national (regional?) offers of $2,000.00 cash back (rebate) if you don't take the 0.0% APR from GMAC. If you own an Oldsmobile, there might have been an additional $1,000.00. Are your parents active/retired military? Discharged doesn't matter. There's money there, too. :D

<-- loves being able to get into GM sites from home and look up stuff. :D Online ordering guides, incentive databases, etc. :D :D

kiss that 180 hp goodbye and say hello to 123HP. :p Still... 26mpg city and 31hwy is pretty good. The manual base model gets 29city and 36hwy. :)
The way the Vibe is supposed to be driven, the only thing that really matters is torque.
