Awwww... she got the AWD and not the GT. :(

kiss that 180 hp goodbye and say hello to 123HP. :p Still... 26mpg city and 31hwy is pretty good. The manual base model gets 29city and 36hwy. :)

Oh, and it's not chrome. The standard feature is stainless steel exhaust tips. But if the Vibe has the option installed, it might be highly polished stainless steel. Check the right-hand side of the window sticker to see if the exhaust tips are listed. If they are... WOOHOO! ;)

I've never driven one, but 123 hp and AWD. That thing must be really underpowered. I find the Subarus with 165hp and 166lb-ft of torque to be a tad underpowered.

if 123 hp and awd ends up being too slow, TRD is working on a supercharger kit for that motor. It doesn't void the factory warranty when installed by the dealer. Brings specs up to ~200 hp/200 tq.

There's one being considered that might be available from the factory next year. Is that the one you're talking about?

I think it's kinda ugly (ala Aztec) and it's grossly underpowered too.

How much did you pay?

I didn't know that, but I'm talking about specifically an aftermarket kit. It's supposed to be done by the end of the summer.

If you think it's underpowered, you obviously haven't driven it yet. Just because a vehicle doesn't go 0-60 in <5sec. doesn't mean it's underpowered. You guys are so used to drooling all over exotics that you've forgotten what it's like for the rest of the world when they consider vehicles. News flash, but most of the world can't afford (and doesn't have use for) a supercar. The Vibe is *not* underpowered, by far. It's not overpowered, either. I would prefer to see more HP in it, but that's just me, and I know it's not realistic (well, for me wanting the 405HP 5.7L V8 to fit into a Vibe :p)

For the type of vehicle that it is, the Vibe has plenty of horsepower.

Dude, when I was in Orlando I had a Mitsubishi Outlander rental (which I'm going to equate with the Vibe; its gotta a horribly underpowered 4-banger and AWD.) That thing was so ridiculously slow it nearly got me killed at a traffic light (some 65 year old retiree was coming on fast at 40mph while I tried to make a right on red...edge of my seat experience I tell ya!)

TRD supercharger for 1zz motor

I guess I was optimistic, TRD says 170 hp/170 tq. Nothing a different pulley size won't fix. :D

There's talk that it might fit all 1zz motor based cars (corolla, prizm, celica, mr-s), in addition to the vibe/matrix. I wouldn't mind 170+ hp in my car that weighs 2400 lbs.

IMO, the matrix/vibes are interesting cars, I would consider getting one if I didn't already have an adequate car. Of course not the fastest car, but good for daily driving and utility while being interesting to look at and not expensive to own.

So because some old lady almost hit you and the Vibe didn't instantaneously appear on the other side of the intersection, the Vibe is underpowered?

Please....

If you want a racecar then buy a racecar.

Exactly. For what the vehicle is meant to do, it performs just fine. Oh, and are there price specs on that yet? The GT's MSRP is less than the price of the AWD and only $2,950 more than the base model. For the price of that supercharger, you can get the GT and more. :)

uhhh, two completely different vehicles.

The outlander weighs ~3500 lbs

Vibes/Matrix weighs ~2800 lbs. That makes all the difference in acceleration.

I've heard expected price is 2500 for the kit, it's not cheap. Yeah some people might be better off getting the 180 hp model.

And what if you want AWD and not FWD? $2500 is not bad!
