I've got a mouse problem that nobody can help me with.

I've got an ECS K7S5A mobo, athlon xp 1800, Gforce 256, SB Live Value. Running Win ME.

When playing a game, Dark Age of Camelot, my USB Intellimouse Explorer will freeze up. Sometimes it will freeze for good, and I have to exit the game, and shut down. At which point it would tell me Pointer.exe had stopped responding. Sometimes it freezes for 5-30 seconds, then continues to work.

Now, every device has it's own IRQ, and AGP 4x is disabled on my mobo.

Can ANYONE tell me what other options I have to fix this?

P.S. If I put a PS2 adapter on the usb mouse, it works without problems. But, I don't like the PS2 connection (even with PS2 Rate) because when I move the mouse fast, the pointer jerks around and doesn't respond for a second.

Please help! Thanks :)

Everyone of my original Intellimouse explorers (the optical ones) have done this. Im convinved it's a problem in the hardware on the original run. Newer units seem fine. Is yours old or new?
