Assuming my vid card is dead, see THIS thread.

Pick out a card from these people (I am choosing them as I have ordered my other components from them and their prices seem quite good!)

HERE

Bare in mind prices are CDN. I have given myself a limit of $300CDN TOPS! (unless, I can get amazing performance for $20 more.)

Thats what I was going to reccomend. See if they'll give you either one of them at a lower price by haggling if this is a local store, otherwise since both are same price, get the 9500 pro which gives slightly better performance, UNLESS you overclock. If you OC, then go for the 9600 Pro.

Actually, just read a review where 9600PRO was overclocked to 520 core/320 memory and it was barely beating a stock 9500 PRO, so definitely go with 9500 PRO.

ATI eh, Really? I was kind of hoping you guys would say something like a 4200. :) How's the driver situation with ATI? Is all my stuff going to work OK?

For the most part, the drivers are stable now. And besides, if you're in Canada, you might as well use ATI. ;)

I`ll let you know when my 9700NP arrives(I`m also a long term Nvidia user because of excellent drivers).

I would go with the 9500 Pro

here or Sapphire version for your budget.

Thanks for the responses! THISis what I ended up ordering:
I got him to pricematch another vendor @ $250 CDN, which seems to be a really good price for us poor Canadians!

Thanks for the help. It'll be my first ATI card.
