Pick one: ECS k7VZA rev 3.0 or EPoX EP-8KTA2L

hmmm actually they arent the same chipset

the epox has the kt133e which is the same as the kt133 but it has the newer southbridge with ata100 support
and the ecs board is actually kt133a (assuming its the revision 3.0... the older revision was kt133) and the kt133a is a much better chipset then the kt133/kt133e the main advantage being its support for both 200 and 266mhz fsb speeds
 
The K7VZA is a pretty stable board, but is very picky when it comes to RAM. I tried PNY and Generic and neither worked so I went with Crucial, which works well. The VZA doesn't overclock well either. But I'm not an overclocker. I enjoy it's stability and speed, and it does everything I need. I don't know much about the EPoX though...
 
Also, the VZA has a 2X APG slot, and I had a heck of a time getting my heatsink on due to a row of capacitors being very close to the CPU slot. Otherwise the sucker went right in my Packard Bell case...heee, heee, heee...
 
I would take any board over the ECS. They are junk. I have close to 30 TBirds running here now, and I have had about all the boards going, name brand and "generic". The Quality of the ECS is worse than any of the cheap boards. I had three DOA, one last a week, and one burn up. They are "high performance" trash. 🙂
 
Yah, that's exactly what im trying to decide between. The one at outpost or one from someone im trading with for around the same.
