My old faithful Samsung SCD80 just bit the dust with some sort of mechanical malfunction🙁 Samsung wants $150 flat rate for repair. Nah, I can spend a little more and have a brand new one. I will be shopping for a replacement this weekend hopefully.

What do you guys own? Recommendations?

I have the SCD77. Great camcorder.

If I was going to buy a new one, I'd probably go Canon. They had the best picture quality and all came with stereo sound when I was looking. Just look for stereo sound, top-loading and other extras like s-vid out and mic-in.

The two I am looking at are:

Panasonic GS65
Canon Elura 85/90.

Just waiting for a good deal.

Good low light performance is one of my biggest priorities.

bump.. what is your price range?

I am also looking for a camcorder, anyone have any suggestions in the $5-600 range?

When I bought mine, a few years ago, Sony was considered one of the best in my price range so I bought that. The Canon camcorders were not as good in low light and I liked the touch screen menu system on my Sony rather than the tiny buttons on the Canon camcorder. I am a Canon fanboi BTW.

Do some research though. Check out the online reviews of the camera you are considering and read the comments of those who've bought that model.

Good luck!
