It's mostly based on the numbers people have been taught are 'good' or 'lucky', namely 3 and 7. Basically based on religious grounds.

Well 7 is my favourite number, but I have never heard it being a religious number. It has been my favourite number for as long as I can remember, and my uprising was not religious (thank you mom and dad for that ).

I dont know, I didnt know 8.5 was an option and I chose a number before I clicked to see the stuff to choose from.

Same here. But 2 is my favorite number (since thats the date my birthday lies on) and I've always liked it since I was a kid. Next 7 comes into mind... but dind't see that 8.5.

What I meant was that I didn't know that stuff when I picked 7 as my favourite number as a kid (dunno how that happened), but I do know it now. I wasn't really exposed to religious stuff as a kid, so that couldn't have affected my decision.

alright guys thanks for posting in the thread.

basically i just wanted to prove my teacher and my entire class wrong. they said they were 100% sure that in a random test, most people would pick 7. they claimed that they were SURE over 75% of people would pick 7.


i could not think of a better place to go than ATOT to get a poll. thanks for participating.

they were SURE over 75% of people would pick 7. technically, he disproved them. 23.48% picked 7. although I'm not sure how scientific this was. I'm sure if someone told you, verbally to pick a number 1-10, no one would pick 8.5.

actually before i did this, i walked around the halls in school asking the exact same set of numbers and i got, not the same, but similarly disproving results. they were totally wrong and this proves it.
