Picasa alternative (network-aware photo management)

I used to love Picasa, but as I transitioned all my media to a networked machine for storage and archival, it's fallen by the wayside as Picasa is not network aware and won't access shares using //computername/folder/

Is there any other utilities that are just as powerful and free? I have some 200 gigs of pictures I need to browse, catalog and organize on networked shares.

Digikam looks interesting. I don't use it, but thought your question was interesting enough to look up. It only costs you time to try it.

Or at least offered the features of Picasa within Google Photos... but it isn't even close.
