Thank you for finally confirming for me that DSLRs stats have no comparison to P&S stats. If I tired to shoot ISO 100, 1/60 sec, f/8, 210 mm with my A700 I would see a dark blurry blob on a black background.

nice shot, reminds me of one of my 1st moon pics. handheld with a nikon d50, 70-300mm

moon1 - 1024x768 untouched i think

moon2 - Photoshopped - cropped, sharpened, etc.

edit: thought they were the same but i guess not. i can't find the originals now...that makes me sad.

Hmm...

Back when I had my Sigma 100-300 f/4 EX I did moon shots at 300mm, F/8.0, ISO-400 and it was metering ~1/400s, which made shooting very easy. I had the tripod out and ready to go but I ended up not even needing it. The brightness of the moon was quite unexpected but actually not that surprising, if you think about it. And the shots turned out sharp as hell
