do they make these anymore? i don't see them ever. If so, where can i buy one? and some software to go along with it? i've seen plenty of guitar stuff for the computer though

Most digital pianos and decent keyboards have that ability, but the software is usually separate. Sibelius is one of the more popular software packages.
I have a Yamaha M08. It's a great synthesizer with weighted keys (feels like a grand piano), and a lot of production capabilities. I can also interface it with my computer as it has a USB port for such purposes.
They get more expensive than that. :QOriginally posted by: Einstein Element

Holy pricetag batman.
So you want something along the lines of a digial piano versus a MIDI keyboard to control a synth?Originally posted by: Wheatmaster

You could probably work with something like a Yamaha P80, P90, or something similar. The Yamaha CP33 has replaced the P90, but it's still ~$1200. You could also try the Casio Privia, and you can pick that up for a lot less. It's not as good an instrument obviously, but it should be more than sufficient for most purposes.
Haha indeed.Originally posted by: Wheatmaster

It completely depends on your application, needs, and quality of output required.Originally posted by: Wheatmaster

Without a doubt, of course.Originally posted by: Einstein Element
You can spend $50 to get a cheap keyboard, but you get what you paid for.

I implore you: Do not do it on the cheap!
You need a reasonable instrument. Forget about sound quality for a moment; what you need is 88 weighted keys, not a small number of keys that have no tactical feel whatsoever. Even a few months of playing on a regular keyboard will be of detriment to your overall dexterity if you try to play on a real piano. Seriously...
Good luck though![]()
