Physix on the cheap?

Is there a good low-power draw video card that's good for physix? If so, is it cheap? Also, is there really any benefit from this?

GT240 can be had for about 50 dollars after rebate. Or you can buy a used 9600GT/GSO, 8800GT for about the same.

Some games show large benefits, others show negligible benefits. But the performance percentage gain can be pretty significant.

What do you have currently?

No, I mean seriously.

Actually, I am very serious. Otherwise, that area of my motherboard will be empty. The GTX 260 basically idles there 24/7 and it's a sexy red EVGA one so it's a placeholder until I get another GTX 480.

Allrighty then. By the way, Mafia 2 does show a respectable gain in fps with your exact setup. 480 + 260. But if you don't like that game or it's not your thing, I guess that doesn't matter.

Anyway, OP, what is your primary graphics card?

Nvidia should really market PhysX to blockbuster games like Starcraft, Diablo etc... not B- games no one really plays.

If your CPU is powerful enough, Do phsyx using CPU ,, in nvpanel change to CPU to handle it. No need for a dedicated phsyx card. CPU will take care of it and have resources still available. thx and gb

I have explained to you why you are wrong about the cpu handling physx at least 4-5 other times. hell I even went through this with you 2 times yesterday yet you keep repeating the same nonsense. please stop posting the same crap over and over because you don't know what you are talking about. either you are being passive aggressive or you really have some type of mental issue that prevents you from comprehending even after being told numerous times.

Unreal Tournament 3, Mirror's Edge, Metro 2033, etc. Plenty of A list titles with PhysX.

Here's a pretty good list of all PhysX titles both hardware and software.
http://physxinfo.com/

Just because a game is good doesn't mean the Physx effects are. Physx right now is not worth the expense of a separate minimum $100 card which is what you need to get good Physx. Physx still doesn't do anything meaningful like they promised years ago. If you already have an Nvidia card, Physx is a great addition which costs you nothing extra but buying another card just for it doesn't make sense unless you really want the Physx effects. It's just not worth the extra $100.

Tweakboy, try to make some coherent posts and just proof read your comments before posting. There is no use running Physx using a CPU, all you get is a slideshow performance, no matter how powerful your CPU might be. Your advise is totally misleading. Just play Mafia II demo with Physx enabled and see for yourself.

I understand you have few disorders that you need to take care of, but that does not excuse you from giving poor advise and misleading people.

Time to give it up and let it go.

Also I believe there was a thread revealing tweak had... something happen. A stroke? I can't remember exactly.

"God Bless you for cussing at me and putting me down." lmao!!

Back to the main topic, I tried physX with mafia 2 and it's worthless. I really don't understand why all the hype for this feature in this game, I mean you can't tell if you turn it on or off.
