got the smoke detector one wrong since i didnt know anything about the technology.

I was torn between alpha and infra-red.

I missed the smoke detector one and the mass one.

Those weren't the type of questions I was expecting in a physics test though for some reason.. well, a couple of them were, but in general.

It's all about specifics, bob!

Ionization detectors use 1 microcurie of Americium-241 that emits alpha particles.
Photoelectric detectors use a gallium arsenide light emitting diode at 940 nanometers for simple detection.

So the way the question was phrased, alpha and IR are correct answers. :)

5/10, but I haven't had physics since freshman year of high school (I'm a junior in college, now).

What does the order of the planets have to do with physics? That's an astronomy question, yo.

6/10. Never took physics, but I've had a couple Astronomy classes (one in HS, one in college).

6/10, but I still haven't taken physics in high school (taking it second semester this year).
