Hi, im in my last year of highschool and my final exam of physics is a very creative challenge. I have to throw an egg form the third floor of the school and it has to touch the ground without breaking. Last year students already tried throwing the egg inside jelly, into a bucket with water, with a parachute and lots of ways. I have made lots of ideas, but in all of them the egg broke or it didnt touch the ground. So when i was searching in the internet for a clever idea for my task , i thought, maybe i could ask all the clever guys from the forums for some ideas that could help! ANY help would be really appreciated!

Thanx everyone, Ive been reading your ideas and i find lots of them really interesting, but i realized i missed some very important rules
The egg HAS to touch the ground, and it has to fall without any parachute or similar idevice, im not allowed to to let the egg sit immersed in vinegar for a week.... or boiled. I know its really hard, thats why im having so mucho trouble. The ideas of the ballon inside of the other ballon or the coffee can or the rice, all of them are possible. I have thought about wrapping the thing in those plastic bubble wrap things and put solid alcohol in the floor burning, so when the egg lands the plastil will burn and egg in the floor, what do you think=??
i cannot supply my own egg

The alcohol idea isn't so bad. But chances are your gonna need alot of bubble wrap so that the egg doesn't break upon impact. And all this plastic is gonna require some heavy duty burning....so...... use gasoline. Gasoline will burn long enough to burn all the plastic.

It isnt that hard...i remember my brother had to do it, he used some ductape, newspaper, tissue, sponges, and plastic bags. Basicly if you dont just go out and expiriment then your never going to get an idea that works. Just make sure on your practice runs you put your eggs in a ziplock bag so they dont spoil your device.

EDIT:
egg HAS to touch the ground
Didnt read that the first time, but that seems very unrealistic...did you double check with your teacher?!? Everyone that i know whos ever done this has never had to have the actual egg touch the floor.
