phpMyAdmin question

I'm trying to setup phpMyAdmin with my website so i can access but i find the instructions by my hosting company to be very annoying.

they tell me to log in to ssh and then it makes me download the phpmyadmin and then extracts it in my root folder and then makes me change the config.php file to be setup correctly.

I find that very annoying, can't i just download the phpadmin and then edit the config.php with an editor and then upload the folder to my hosting space?

thank you.

Um, it sounds like their way to do things would be easier. What's annoying about doing things effectively?

What editor were you thinking of using?

editor i'm not sure what you mean.

the only reason i went through the hosting process was because i was having issues with a weblog and people on the support for it told me to edit some stuff through phpmyadmin.

so i set it up and now when i go to www.mysite.com/phpmyadmin all i get is a white page and it says done at the bottom of the browser, sounds like i didnt it wrong.

Edit:
i delete the folder created in my root. i downloaded the same phpmyadmin file and edited myself outside of ssh and then uploaded to the root and everything is working now.
