I have a home lan with my computer using winxp with the HP Photosmart P1000 installed and set to be shared, I also have two win98 pc's on the network, when I go to add additional drivers for other os's and specify win98 drivers it asks for the file "HP_Install_P1000" which isnt in any of the driver packages I downloaded from hp, I thought I had found a solution at the hp forum when someone said to install the 850c drivers but then it asks for the file "Dj850c" which also isnt in any of the driver packages I downloaded :| I had my canon bjc6000 networked with no problem but this HP is giving me a headache :(

Install the corporate drivers on each 98 machine. These drivers don't have support for the card reader and are meant to be on the pc's using a shared or networked printer.

Install the dj850c drivers on the clients? I'll try that.

about the card reader, I was able to copy files from it from one of the win98 machines on the network, not something I need to do but thought it was nice to be able to do anyway.

thanks!

The way they explained it to me was the drivers you use on the machince it is hooked up to has a part that constantly scans the reader so when you put a card in it runs whatever it runs. Apparently it can't scan the reader over the network so you use the drivers without it. You may still be able to manually browse to the reader but I'm not sure, haven't tried to. The driver they told me to use was either ps256en.exe or ps257en.exe can't remember which is which but it says on their site. Hope this helps.
