I have two images scanned in photoshop and they seem to have different contrast levels and since I know I could never adjust it so that it would look good, I'm wondering if there is a way where I can select and area and choose a tool to "blend" them. Thanks

Try auto-levels, that often will correct your images to have the proper contrast and brightness.
