Photoshop Question (kombat related)

So I'm looking to do some tweaking to an image in photoshop. It that quintessential background from Mortal Kombat 1 with the monks, seen here:

I just need the vanilla background though and no characters onscreen. I wasn't able to find something like that through google image search, so I'm thinking I'll have to do it myself in Photoshop.

Would that just require extensive clone stamping work?

Either clone stamping or straight up copy and pasting. If you could get multiple images of that particular level, you could just paste out the 'good parts' from each image to form your finalized clean image.

Yah, the best bet would be to get multiple screen shots of that level (I'm sure there some floating around the web) and copy and paste the good sections to create a clean background with no characters.

Hmm, that would be tricky.

Considering they're basically doing that already, it probably wouldnt take too long.

This.

If you get the images, I can have it done in 5 minutes.

Step by step (this assumes both screenshots are pixel-for-pixel, or resampled the same way):
? bring both screenshots into PS
? set top layer to 50% opaque, verify registration - make sure everything lines up
? set top layer back to 100% opaque
? add layer mask to top layer, paint mask over the characters to reveal the layer below

Done.

Thank you for the advice :) Although, If I had just the blank background, I wouldn't have to remove those stupid characters ;)

I'm saying you can get both by using two screens with the characters in different spots.

If you try to clone, you're going to have to really fake some stuff with the dragon on top of the wall and the guard behind sub-zero. There's nowhere to sample from for those.

Rivan, that couldn't have worked better. Thank you.

Now...how about bloody text? :D All of the tutorials I've found online have been rather lame. Have that trick up your sleeve?

Getting rid of it, or making new names?

Either way, post what you're working with PM me in the morning; I'll fix it up.
