I haveps 5, first off...
Now, I want to bevel the edges of a small object as a template for a 'button'.
All I've set is the bg color... Layers->effects is grayed, and I don't se anything in the filter menu.
I asked a friend that says ps 6 abd 7 have this available as filters, but didn't knbow how to do it in ps5.

no idea how to do that in 5, but you should really look into getting either 6 or 7. the improvements from previous versions are great 🙂

Yeah, I plan to do that... But I'd just assume finidh this tidbit in 5, if possible 🙂

found this-- mentions beveling about half way down. not sure if it will help or not.

(get PS6, makes things like this soo much easier)

edit:

do a search on google for "how to bevel and emboss in photoshop 5" or something along those lines-- a few helpful links and tutorials come up

Okay, cool. Good google tip 🙂
Thanks

Okay, I've got it.
I pasted another box on top of my bg, slightly smaller, then did an outer bevel to fill the box.
