Photoshop/ Photodeluxe question

Hi all,
When I resize a photo in either Photoshop or Photodeluxe for example from 6" x 5" down to 3"x 2", and save it in .jpg format, it is still very large when viewed in my browser...much larger than what I resized it to.
What am I doing wrong?

Is the resolution of the image still the same? It should be (72dpi for monitor, up to 300dpi for printing out). Are you sure that you're not viewing the image magnified?

when you RESIZE an image you be changing the actual dimensions. when you view the picture and it comes out large, does it end up being poor quality like its being stretched? i dont know if you just tried to view the image itself in the browser or put it in html. if you put it in html, check the dimensions you set on your picture. remove the dimensions if they are there.

Just like Ladi said if your going to view it on a screen reduce it to 72dpi it you want to see how big it is just zoom it to %100 and that will give ya an idea.
