Photoshop issues

I have Photoshop CS5 and recently it decided that when it runs it will hang, and when it finally does start up all menu items are greyed out and keyboard shortcuts don't work. Then eventually it crashes.

I found that if I change it to XP-SP3 compatibility mode it will start up fine and works normally, but also eventually crashes (usually within 5 minutes).

All my searching shows this to be a common issue (on mac?) but I haven't seen any specific solutions. I've updated to the latest, I've uninstalled/reinstalled. I have done the font troubleshooting (except I have not done a verification for corrupted fonts yet). Cleared preferences etc, nothing seems to change it.

My question I guess is, has anyone ever had a similar issue and what did you do to fix it? I am thinking about clearing all registry mentions, but I have yet to see anything referencing doing that so not sure it will make a difference.

OS is Win 64 Home Premium

I haven't had any problems with my CS5 in Windows 7.1 so I am going to guess it isn't the native application but something corrupt or hardware failing.

Yea hard to tell. I went through and deleted all references in the registry, and all the \user\blah blah\ settings and reinstalled again, and same thing. Grr. I worked with Adobe support and they are looking at it.

Could be hardware I suppose. I switched the drive I have it on just in case, but didn't change anything.
