This is what I'm a little better at. I like these kind of things, and think they look cool. I don't do the simple company logos like notfred and others, but the more complex and colorful logos that most people can't say, print on a box. IE< something for a web site and that's about it.
This is what we're going to learn to do today - learn how to make something SIMILAR to this logo of mine.
You like? No? Well, it pretty anyway. We'll see what you come up with!
This is going to be long, so if you get bored, just leave the computer or go to another site/thread until you want to come back. Don't say 'fvck it', and close the window when you get frustrated! PM me!
This is also going to be fairly complex for many users. The newbies can do this, more than likely, but it may get confusing because I'M NOT going to go through the small details like in the first and next newbie class! I wwill tell you what to do, but not full explinations because you should, if you're in this more advanced "class", know some of this stuff.
TO start!
Open up a new 500x300 canvas. Fill this with black.
Now, pull out the type tool and make a "*"(asterisk) make it WHITE, and the size about 130 pt. Position this in the middle of the canvas.
Now go to Filters>Distort>Polar Coordinates and change the PC to "Polar to Rectangular". It should kind of be strange looking now...
Move it back to the middle of the canvas.
Now go back to Filters, and go to Stylize>Wind, and chose "Wind", then from the Right. Repeat. Now apply wind from the left, twice as well.
Now rotate the canvas 90CW or CCW(Image>rotate canvas) and then re-apply the wind from both the right and the left, two times each. Now rotate it back to it's original position.
Pretty now, isn't it?! It's starting to shape up, eh?
Now go to Filters>Distort>Polar Coordinates again, and change the PC to Rectangular to Polar. Interesting, eh?
Now go to EDIT>Transform>Rotate. Rotate this until the bright white spot is facing the lower-LEFT corner, and the opening is facing the upper-right corner. Click the little checkbox to OK your changes. Now go back to Transform, but this time pick "Perspective".
Pull one of the bottom little boxes of the square that appears and spread it out. It should look like this., or something similar.
Now type something in to the middle of the picture, like "NEF" or whatever you want to do. Make these letters a mid-gray.
Hehehe...I like this..
Anyway, now double click on the "NEF" layer(or whatever you typed) or right click>Blending options. Click on the BAR(NOT CHECKBOX) of "Bevel and Emboss". You should be around here.
Pick one of the types of beveling circled in the picture like it says. Whichever you like best! Watever looks better to you.
Now Contour the NEF layer, and also add an Outer Glow, with the glow being WHITE.
Now duplicate the "NEF" layer, and remove the blending options. Just go to the Blending Options window and unckeck all the boxes EXCEPT THE OUTER GLOW. Leave that one on.
Now go to Filters>Blur>Gaussian Blur and blur NEF copy with a radius of about 8. Set the Opacity of this layer to say, 45%.
Now, click on the little half-black and half-white circle at the bottom of the layer window. Now, on the pop-up menu, click "Hue/Saturation". Click "colorize" at the bottom-right corner of the window.
Set the Saturation to about 30, and the hue to about 214. Lighting should be/stay at 0.
Now copy your ORIGINAL "NEF" layer. Set the opacity to about 65%. The layers should be in this order(move them to be this way), from top to bottom: NEF copy 2, the HUE layer, NEF, NEF copy, and *.
So, what do you think? Like it?
Post your results!! I want to see them!
