Sensationalism.

It is indeed a terrible use of photoshop, but looking at it, I'd say they didnt FAKE anything as the headline reads. Looks to me like they color corrected part of it and drew a really shitty mask for the color correction.

Edit: I retract my "sensationalism" comment. I only saw the second, far less egregious Ps butchering when I made the comment.

That is a pretty shitty thing to do. Look at our high tech command center!

Oh, don't look at the real one which is just a couple guys with laptops and giant post it board.

Um, all they did was slap some duplicate images from some of those monitors onto the two blank monitors that are displayed in the original. This is hardly scandalous.

Though I am disappoint that pedobear did not make an appearance.

Heh, this is really bad.

In all seriousness, an astute reader noticed that the meta info for the photo says it was created in 2001, not July 16, 2010 as claimed on BP's site. It looks like BP took a photo from 2001, and in order to make it look like the command center in July of 2010, they pasted pictures of the oil well leaking over the old photo.

The photo has EXIF data from 2001 on it apparently. So does that prove BP knew about the leak before it was 'official'? :p

I was going to rescue this with shots from the 2nd ATOT movie, but it turns out that I only put Pedobear in the floor tiles :(

Did you not notice that they changed what was on the screen then?

No. I see the diagonal selection at the top (of the projected image), but I think that's just the remainder of the terribad pologonal lasso selection.

Is that not what you're referring to?

There seem to be more people talking about this trivial bullshit than the atrocity BP committed in regards to helping free the person convicted for pan am flight 103 in exchange for drilling rights.

Yea, that one's turrible. We're talking about different things, I think.

Which one are you talking about then?

You said the first one from the OP.

Originally, you said it didn't look bad and was just a mask.

This was questioned by darkxshade, since clearly the screen in the OP's first link were altered.

I assumed your comments about masking were from looked at this one, which I think is a reasonable assessment of what's going on.

So which is it?

Also I heard BP CEO Tony Hayward raped and murdered a young woman in 1998.

The problem I have with BP and this Photoshopping shenanigans is that it is yet another cluster fuck in a long line of PR bombs.

To me I get the perception that management is damn well nearly criminally incompetent in handling all sorts of issues. It isn't this "trivial bullshit" in of itself that is significant, but rather it is supportive evidence of a series of piss-poor management decisions.
