If you don't have the $$$ for Photoshop 7.0, Amazon.com has Photoshop Elements 1.0 for $19.99 shipped after rebates ($40 Amazon.com rebate and $30 upgrade rebate) and the $10 of $75 code (find it at FW). I use Photoshop Elements 1.0 and IMO it works great for 95% of what most people use Photoshop for.

BTW, you can download a 30-day tryout of Abode Photoshop Elements 1.0 here if you'd like to try it before you buy it.

Photoshop Elements is a bit different than Photoshop :) I like it better actually....lots of automated scripting, a cool "recipies" feature, and it's not the resource hog that Photoshop is. In fact, I haven't found anything that I can do in Photoshop that I can't do in Elements. Great program----highly recommended!

Fritzo how does this compare to Jasc Paint Shop Pro if you have ever used it. My family is new to digital photographyand now we have 2 cameras thanks to the Hot Deals forum. ;) :D I am looking for a program that doesn't have all the extras and is simpler to teach the kids. Thanks

On the other hand at that price I might just buy it and find out for myself. ;)

Perhaps you can modify the title of your post. In order to qualify for the $30 Adobe manufacturer rebate, you must send in the UPC from and a receipt for a DIGITAL CAMERA purchased between 12/1/01 - 7/31/02.

I would hate for someone to jump on this deal only to find out that they don't qualify for the $30 rebate because they haven't purchased a digital camera or no longer have the receipt or UPC for the camera.

have psp5 and 7 on one computer @ work
phshop 6 on the other
plus got psp 6 @ home
really like both, they do different things...
sorry to be so ambiguous (sp?), but go here and check out some of the user reviews--they are always a hoot and quite informative...
good luck

Not sure how it compares to Paint Shop, but Elements isn't really for the beginner. It fills the "intermediate" void that has existed for a while in photoediting software. For the beginner, I'd suggest Adobe PhotoDeluxe. After you get your hands dirty with basic photo editing, move up to Elements. It allows you to do things like add effects, do spot editing, layer images, do batch edits, etc.

djlevyii, While it's true that you can Receive a $30 Rebate on Photoshop Elements with the purchase of a digital camera, the $30 rebate mentioned on Amazon.com is a $30.00 mail in upgrade/competitive rebate when you purchase Adobe Photoshop Elements software if you own a licensed version of: Adobe Photoshop LE, Adobe PhotoDeluxe, or selected digital imaging software including - ArcSoft PhotoStudio, Corel PHOTO-PAINT, Jasc Paint Shop Pro, Microsoft PhotoDraw and Picture IT!, MGI PhotoSuite and ULEAD Photoimpact and Photo Express. Rebate information in box.

There is a LOT of stuff that Photoshop Elements can't do. But very few people even scratch the surface when using Photoshop's features, so it really depends on the person whether or not Elements is good enough. When you consider the fact that Photoshop 7.0 is $500, that really puts things in perspective. :)

ehaught: Sounds like you have access to the details for the upgrade rebate found in the box. Can you please advise whether the terms of this rebate allow a copy of the UPC to be submitted? (Terms of the digital camera rebate require "... the original UPC label from the flap of the Adobe Photoshop Elements box.")

Thanks in advance.

Exactly....Photoshop has too many features for most people. 9 out of 10 of us just want to do photoediting, resizing, and maybe some basic layering, so Elements is the perfect product for that.
