Hi all,

I've been creating some projects on Photoshop CS6 that have a lot of layers and sub-folders. My largest file got to the point where it is 60mbs.

When moving a top layer around I get tremendous lag. I'll move my mouse cursor around and it takes 30 secs to catch up.

Question:
Do I need a better video card or more ram? If it's a video card, what are some suggestions around the 100-150 price?

here's my setup
1) AMD Phenom II X6 1045T
2) 880GM-LE FX 880G AM3+ mATX AMD Motherboard
3) G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 16GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000)
4) ADATA S510 Series AS510S3-120GM-O 2.5" 120GB SATA III
5) PowerColor Go! Green AX5450 1GBK3-SH Radeon HD 5450 (Cedar) 1GB 64-bit DDR3 PCI 6) 6) Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Ready Video Card

Running on Windows 7 64 bit

Component Scores

Processor 7.4
Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB 7.4
Graphics ATI Radeon HD 5400 Series 3.9
Gaming graphics 4863 MB Total available graphics memory 5.7
Primary hard disk 57GB Free (233GB Total) 7.1

Thanks for the help

Yeah, that 5450 card is your biggest weakness. That is only a $35 entry-level video card.

For your price range and CS6, i'd go with either an Nvidia GTX 650 ($99-$109) or an Nvidia GTX 650 Ti ($139-$159).

Both are a substantial upgrade over a 5450 card.

While I agree with the other posters...

I'm confused. Did you RAID two of those disks? If so it might be better to have one disk as the OS disk and the other as the scratch disk.

Thanks! I'll look into those two.

Disable GPU acceleration and see if your lag goes away.

Just tried it, still the same lag... I've done a lot tweaks in the past as well to no avail.

Nope, didn't RAID them. I forgot I switched out my old hd for a bigger one. But you do make a good point. maybe I can use the old ssd hd as scratch disk and see how things change.

Thanks all!
