Photoshop CS2 - Type Text turns Box Transparent Red?

Everytime I try to make a little button and try to put text into the window, it turns the box a redish transparent color, and wants to outline all of the letters. How can I stop this box from doing this??? Thanks!

Right click the text layer, blending options. Everything should be deselected. Blend mode should be Normal. Only thing that I can think of.
