If you do a lot of photoshop, is one particular video card better?

Thanks.

Matrox cards will have superior 2D quality, next in line is ATi, then Nvidia in terms of 2D. Also note that when you're editing in photoshop they are mor edependent on the cpu speed rather than the video card so don't spend a wh ole lot on a video card expecting a large improvement in speed just for photoshop.

Pricy? I must be the shop your looking in, every where i`ve seen them they`ve been under the price of a GF4 440MX.
I think you mean the parhelia or the new matrox cards that are pricy.

G550 is also very pricey, for the capabilities and speed it has. It's just the really good 2D; their 3D implementation is nowhere near what other cards in this price range achieve.

I run photoshop on my matrox millenium ii..

seriously, my matrox millenium ii, has the same 2D image quality to my eyes as my geforce3, or my radeon 9700pro.. maybe because I had a gainward geforce3, i heard gainward cards have the best 2D quality.

oh yeah I have a 21" CRT @ 1600x1200, so the monitor isn't a limiting factor.
