Photoshop Album VS. ACDSee.....................your pick?

I've used ACDSee since version 3 and it was very good however the more recent releases (i.e. version 5) are bloated and OTT. I've since gotten rid and now use IrfanView (freeware) as my image viewer. Never used PS Album so can't comment.

I use IMatch. If you want a flexible, powerful program to categorize your images to the extreme, this is it. I was so glad when I found this program.

however, keep in mind, acdsee and photoshop album are surely easier to use. So if you want easy, and you're an average user that isn't gonna be doing a whole lot of in-depth stuff, then acdsee or ps album is probably the better choice...but if you want a powerful program, go for IMatch.

I've been meaning to try out Photoshop Album, but always forget to. I use ACDSee (since 3.1) and like Mitzi says... it's become very bloated. Does Irfanview do batch rename and file-type conversion (bmp-->jpg) ? That's the only reason I use ACDSee nowadays anyway.

Yes IrfanView does batch rename, batch conversion etc etc...give it a go, its only a 800Kb download

Extremely happy user of ACDSee 5.0 PowerPack here.

I'd take ACDSee 5.0 over PS Album anyday... no comparison at all, ACDSee is far superior.
You might want to stick with ACDSee 4.0 if your just a casual user however, ACDSee 5.0 has a ton of additional capabilities and features that many won't touch at all. It's also slowly begun to broaden into areas that other applications already cover much more comprehensively.

For me, I really do utilize ACDSee 5's capabilities on a daily basis and absolutely love the applications flexibility. I can understand why others might view it as bloated however.

IrfanView isnt nearly as widely capable as ACDSee but for straight image optimization/viewer/organizer it's pretty close and most of all... Freeware, whereas one has to purchase ACDSee one the trial has expired.

Thumbs+.... is very popular but frankly I don't see how it can at all compare to ACDSee or IrfanView.

Never used IMatch so I really can't comment on it. I'll have to check it out when I have the time.

I really like Irfanview for viewing files and some basic cropping and batch operations. I use Photoshop for everything else.

I've been using viewing software called VuePrint for years and it does what I want very quickly.
It will let you convert to and from just about any format, will let you listen to sounds, view pics or movies, create slideshows and screensavers, crop pictures and lots more options.
The good thing is that it's extremely small and it loads up any image very quickly.
