Just fired it up after not messing with it for a while and all of a sudden when I "select all" and try to feather the selection the feather selection is greyed out and I cannot seem to enable it? It's late so it may be that I cannot see the wood for the tree's sort of thing....

Someone give me an idea would you please....

You normally have to use the marquee tool and make a selection using the circle or square marquee tool option before the feather option works normally. I have photoshop seven if I hit select all the feather option does not even appear in the context option bar.

If I select the marquee tool then the feather option appears and allows me to make changes before I select the portion of the image I want to feather. If I hit the marquee option from the toolbar the feather option appears. Then I can choose select all from the menu and copy to clipboard. I then select new from file. Then paste and the picture is pasted but it is still the whole picture not the selected picture with feathered edges.
