Photoprinting still expensive?

Disregarding initial photo printer cost and time spent, is personal photo printing still more expensive than getting your digital photos printed at say a local "digital processing center" or a web company like ofoto.com? Lets say a Canon i960...

im not sure about that canon, but for a full color page on photo paper, my HP Deskjet 880 C does full color pages for about $2/page.. not sure how that compares, but i get photo quality out of it and couldnt be happier

I have a canon i850 and canon is really good about droplet size so I guess It probably cost me....... *thinks* about $.80 a sheet (8x10) I buy my ink and paper at costco.

I'd say the most cost effective is to buy a Canon i860/i960 and premium paper (CostCo B&M had Kodak premium photo paper 150 4x6" sheets for $20).

The output from the Canon printers are absolutely stunning.
