Photon Regular vs Photon Covert

Anyone have first hand experience with the two different types of photon lights? What I want is a light that will allow me to see a little area without much peripheral light as to bug other people. The regular photon can be found all around the web for much cheaper price than on photon's own website. But the covert one is harder to find for a cheap price. So what I want to know is if the extra cap around the bulb is worth the money. I was thinking I could just form my own cap with my palm, but that might be too annoying each time and some peripheral light may still escape.
