Spent a few hours looking at various wedding photographers this past weekend and just realized how expensive these guys are!

Just wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a good photographer ... our budget is probably <$400, but if we really really have to, we can go to $2000, that's about the average we're seeing but that means cleaning out a good portion of my stock portfolio where most of the stocks are below the purchase price.

The reason I ask for the $400 range is because a fellow ATer offer that price, amdinside but unfortunately he's booked for the date.

So if anyone knows of a friend or acquaintancet hat can help us with the price or if there's a recommended photographer pls reply!

You would be lucky to get someone for $400 for sure. Our photographer at ours was a work friend of the wifes who was a retired State of Ohio nature photographer and he charged us $300 and that was a steal. We also got a complete proof set and the negatives at that price. He did awsome work and it was a great deal.

well, I guess I'm open to suggestions on folks near the $1500-$2k range ...
 
Wow, I feel for you. My fiancee and I lucked out and got our wedding photographer for the cost of film and developing....then again it helps that his daughter is a bridesmaid. 🙂

You should be able to find a decent one at that rate. Sorry i can't help, as i'm not from Cali. As an example, a friend of mine and I are doing a wedding in March. He's the main photog, and it's his first wedding. He'll be getting ~$1000. Just as a point of reference. Don't be surprised if some photogs pass you on to their assistants or give you recommendations of people they know that would do it.

Indeed.

Maybe for $400 you'll get him to come take pics, but you won't get any prints or anything.

Remember you're paying for the entire package including a memory album.

I paid $325 CANADIAN for the photographer for my wedding (coming up in July), which includes proofs and high-res digital pics on CD, but no real prints. I can do the prints myself for 30c each or less. We had to hagle with the guy, but got a good deal in the end, and his portfolio is quite good. Look around and try to make deals... you just might be able to get someone good for cheap!
