So, I want to buy two lens filters to use with my Canon PowerShot G2. Question is, what to buy?

49mm Hoya Circular Multi-Coated Polarizer filter for $51.95
+
49mm Hoya HMC UV filter for $15.95
Total: $67.90

OR

49mm Photo Essentials Kit from Tiffen for $54.95
(Includes Tiffen UV, Circular Polarizer, and 812 Color Warming Filters)

Which brand is better? How much better is a multi-coated polarizer?

I don't have all the money in the world to spend, so I was leaning towards the kit. More bang for the buck.

Agreed, however I'm very partial to Hoya products. Great camera btw, the only digital I own in my arsenal.

As far as multi-coated.. are you planning on taking pictures with a lot of bright lights in them or mirrors or glass? If not, get the normal one, if you plan on doing extensive work in this area get the multicoated. In my experience, the word multicoated is synomous with marketing ;)

I'm going to live with my mom on the Greek island of Naxos for two months this summer. We're talking bright light bouncing off of water, white-washed buildings, etc.
