Just want to get into the basics of lighting, how to properly set up an indoor studio shoot, etc. I'm looking for beginner info. Thanks.
I will check that out, thanks!Originally posted by: fuzzybabybunny

Light Science And Magic is a great book, but my personal favorite since 1993 is The Photographer's Studio Manual by Michael Freeman.
LS&M is a good book for understanding lighting for beginner/student.Originally posted by: ThePresence

Is that good for beginners, or do I have to know some basics going in?
The MLG for PP book maybe good for an amateur portrait photographer, but IMHO, a serious photographer should look some where else because it is gimmicky and offer very little substance.Originally posted by: pyonir

Get this one. This book is considered a must have for any portrait photographers. Every pro i've talked to, mentions this book.
Maybe you missed in his original post where he said he's looking for beginner stuff. That's why MLG is an important book to have...it's basic. basic is good for a beginner.Originally posted by: NoShangriLa

Matter of fact, it went to my brother in-law after he saw I threw it in the recycling bin (It was a gift and I kept it on my book shelf for 3-4 years before I need the room for more interesting books).
