photoblocker - block your license plate from cameras

Havent' seen this but I have seen people driving with 'clear' license plate covers that make it impossible to photograph the entire plate. Only one side is visible at a time depending on the angle of the viewer. I see those around Phoenix quite often and have wondered about purchasing one.

Yes, it is, and no, it doesn't work.

If it doesn't work, why is it illegal?

Also, is it against federal law or state law? I don't believe it's against federal law to install measures that deceive photographic equipment, is it?

I think I saw some report on how this doesn't really work... unless the flash is very, very bright.

Which means that it

A) Only works at night
B) Doesn't work on cameras in illuminated areas

sorry if repost

BS! Look at the two pictures showing before and after. The flash exposure is many times more powerful in the after photo. Look at the specular highlights on the car. I'm betting that is the only reason the plate in the after photo is unreadable.

it is only state laws that are affected. i know VA has some VERY tight driving/car laws and these along with radar detectros are illegal.

It's under the "obstructed license plate" law according to Baltimore County Popo.

in CA: Whether it's legal or not in California is unclear. LAPD spokesman Jack Richter says any product that makes a license plate unreadable is illegal. But CHP spokesman Tom Marshall says there has been no definitive ruling.

Definitely illegal in Texas...they even passed a law a few months ago that said if the word TEXAS at the top of the plate was not totally visibile, you can get ticketed. Still see alot of cars that have the license plate frame cover the top portion of the TEXAS on the plate.

Figured it wasn't worth the hassle, so I took my frame off...

Why don't you just try not to speed or run red lights? I mean, that's cheaper than buying gimmicks that don't work. 😛

Look at the dozens of news reports done on this product. It works, and even cops admit it works and that they can't detect it.
