Photo Wizard - not working - help

Neos

Senior member
Hope I am in the right forum.

I tweaked the SERVICES.MSC in my XP Pro - and the wizard that would download my photos from my Sony camera (S75) now does not work.

Anyone have an idea what I should do to get this function back, or if there is a service to be enabled ?? When I plug the USB into the camera, it gives me the option to go to the wizard, but nothing happens.

Thanks

Pulled this from Black Viper's site

Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)
Used for some scanners, web cams, and cameras. If, after disabling this service, your scanner or camera fails to function properly, enable this service by placing it into automatic.

Did you happen to diable WIA? Try turning it back to Auto and see if that fixes your problem...

Thought we may have had it there - not ! It is already on auto.

Thanks for the reply. It may be that I will have to reload XP - not that big a deal - just time. I have all my files, pix and such on another partition.

Well, I don't know how in a hurry you are, but I'd definately wait for some more answers before I spent all that time reloading XP. It's likely that the problem is tied to a single service that can be fixed in less than a minute.

...the hard part is finding out which one it is... 🙂

Edit: Where at in Alabama? I'm not far away in Tupelo, MS

I got to rethinking, and I am going to put this in the Highly Technical. Maybe someone there will know.

I am in the Birmingham area - just east - out of town - moving soon to Talledega County.

Later ...& thanks.
