Has anyone tried to print photos on metal?

It's quite expensive...
But...I've tried to print...largest size 20x30...reg. price $170(vs. same size prints on metallic paper - ~ $20) but I printed when Adorama had 40% off...
Photo print looks pretty good...

Off topic, but I sent off my first set of photos to be printed at 18x24.
I noticed an advert in Popular Photography that was $2.97 for this size with coupon code so I figured for $10 it was worth trying a few.

I've seen those metal prints advertised in Popular Photography ... something like 7feet x 14feet. I imagine that's not cheap... :)

I did a smallish one via WHCC when they had them on sale, 11x10 or so, pretty cool looking.

I've attempted to order a big metal print a few times but always gotten discouraged by all the different options like glossy satin, matte satin, etc. A friend of mine pointed me to Bay Photo which has a sample print package that gives you 4 different small (like 4x6 or 5x7) prints of those 4 types for something like 30-40 dollars. I did this a little while ago and it really helps you see the differences. I think I made a mistake by having them print my entire photo though. You can't tell how details will look in such a small print. I should have printed a crop of my intended photo at the equivalent 1:1 of what big size I intended to print. I think the sample pack is worth it if you intend to do many large prints down the line.
