photo printing software

What photo printing software is everyone using?
I was just using the Windows picture and fax viewer to view and print pictures for the longest time, but now it seems it doesnt want to print properly (images are pretty grainy and very very dark)

Im struggling to find an simple alternative

Printing out of PS is just not worth it (color is right though)

We use ACDSee at work (mainly for printing thumbnails), but it's not free.

When I want to print out borderless 4x6/5x7/8x10 I use paint shop pro and FotoCrop. Can't remember when I ran across fotocrop but it basically takes the picture you have open in psp and crops it to the exact size you want. Look it up on google and give it a shot.
