Im trying to decide on a good/excellent photo printer to purchase. Im interested in the Hp Photosmart 7960 which has had a dramatic pricedrop $180.00. Im also considering its predecessor the HP 7760$147.00. Both excellent prices but if there is something out there perhaps an epson or a canon that is comparable or better please let me know. Also if anyone has any of these printers I'd appreciate your input too.

Canon I960 will kick its HP ass all over the parking lot.

Hell an I860 will kill it and an Epson.

Yup, the cost of ownership of Canon printers can be anywhere from somewhat less to dramatically less (if you are willing to buy 3rd party ink tanks or refill 'em yourself) and the output is excellent. PC World just put the i455 near the top of their top 10 list and it runs well under $100 - but I wouldn't recommended it for people who print a lot as the ink tanks are too small and the color tank is tricolor rather than three separate tanks. I own its predecessor, the i450, and am very happy with it.
. Epson clogs too easily and they attempted to proprietize their ink tanks with a chip. HP and Lexmark just have too high a cost of ownership except for maybe the few high end models with separate ink tanks. HP generally has a U-shaped paper path that I don't care for either.

YESTERDAY, I saw a stack of Canon i950S-s at Compusa for $119.95. This is the predecesor of the i960 but the print quality is equal to better. It's a little slower, no pictbridge.

Also, Canpns print great on Epson glossy paper.
