Photo Printer / Maker for digital cameras

Folks,
One of my friends just showed me some photos he took with his digital camera, the picture is as clear and as big as those developed with films.
Too bad I forgot to ask him what kind of photo maker he used to print these amazing quality photos (he left for HongKong). Does anyone here has seen one of those photo makers? Are they expensive? Please forward me the link!

Thanks!

Personally I think the polaroid's suck because you are limited to it's size and lack of versatality. There is a $400 printer from Hewlett Packard (HP) that can be connected to a PC, or just the camera I believe. You can do nice 8x10's with it. Other than that there are some nice Inkjets like the HP 842c that are dirt cheap. Epson makes some decent printers also. As for paper, you may want printer specific photo paper that the printer's ink is optimised for.

for me, i'd get a real size inkjet printer
color ink jet of course ;-)

you can get 8x11 photo sheets, or regular sized sheets. they cost like $1 each (or something)though =(

if you get a printer with more than just those basic 3 and black, you can get more realistic flesh tones. some printers use 6 colors.

NOTE, for the most part, those prints ARE NOT waterproof
