I personally like using explorer, but what kind of features do you use on this photo managing software? I just use explorer to organize my stuff, usually using the thumbnail view, and for very simple changes I use the Picture Manager that's part of Office 2003, and for anything more complex I use photoshop.

Have you used ACDSee ? How does that compare ? I'm open to switching if it's better.

One thing I notice right away is that Faststone takes up 26MB RAM once opened while ACDSee 3.1 takes up 10MB RAM. That's a considerable difference (not that RAM is costly or anything, but still).

Has anyone used faststone image viewer in a Restricted-User environment? (win2k/winxp/xp-pro)
...Or know of a decent photo management software that does? Picasa does not.

I did try Acdsee the new version 7, but i dont like their editing tools, i rather use photoshop, if they gave me just the strip down version of acdsee organizing features and with the software being able to choose a picture to edit and autimatically opens it in photoshop i be happy.

In fact thats the software that i'm looking for, i tried photoshop elements 3 and did not like its organizing style.

again from what i originally posted free would be great.

If anyone know if acdsee 7 can be made to open a picture in photoshop maybe i will try them again.

The Faststone application posted above does this. You can set it in options for what apps to open it in for editing via right-click. The rest of the app looks a lot like ACDSee too... except for the memory usage.

I went ahead and tried picassa and faststone also and now again acdsee 7. they are all great application ofcourse Acdsee 7 is going to win but its also 49$.

for some of you that talked about the ram, there is not much difference in ram usuage. right now acdsee is using 20mb compared to the faststone 25mb.

also i did find in acdsee 7 if you want to edit picture you can use either the acdsee build in editor or pick something else like photoshop.
