Simon's Camera (1-800-374-6667), an established shop in Montreal, is offering the Sony A900 for $2131.95, and they ship to the US via Canada Post with no tax/duties.

Shipping is ~$40 or less via Canada Post Express to the US. After shipping, that's still over $800 less than US retail.

The Big Three Shootout found that the A900 was neck-and-neck with the D3x and 5D2 through ISO800. The A900 viewfinder is in a class by itself. For landscape/studio/product photographers who rarely shoot above ISO800, the A900 should be on your list.

lol that means you could almost have 4 A900s for the price of 1 D3x

Phail on Nikon's part.
By that logic, a $20,000 Phase One back would be epic phail for not being 10x better than an A900.

But in reality, the target market for things like Phase One backs and D3xs don't really care much about the price because their livelihood depends on having the best equipment for the job.

you can buy an A900 for under $2000 US in the UK before sales taxes (which don't apply on exports outside the EU).
I would imagine that shipping to the US would be under $100.
of course you would have an European rather than US warranty.

Only problem might be finding a store with a good price & stock - A900s & Zeiss lenses are selling very well here to the extent that Sony has a supply problem.
