I need to get some photos posted, and I wanted to solicit some opinions on the better sites out there. Pros and cons of the different options?

Flickr is excellent, has excellent integration into Drupal and Wordpress, (not sure about joomla) and lets you integrate your stuff easily. You can get analytics on each picture you take (number of view /seo stuff) and there are so many groups out there to join its really a great community.

I like Flickr too; a good community for photography oriented people. As a hosting service, it has always been fast.

Zooomr is a Flickr clone with more social networking features.

You might also want to look at SmugMug, Zenfolio or PBase.

I have mine hosted with Smugmug (in sig). It's extremely flexible with a lot of options and photo sizes, and there is unlimited storage and close to unlimited bandwidth.

I'm not too sure about the community though.

Seems like a solid consensus on Flikr, and I've previously heard good things about Smugmug. I'll check them out this weekend and post a site when I have one. Thanks for the insight!

It all depends on your goal. I personally love flickr.. for sharing what I've recently done. And of course the community aspect. However, as a photo sharing host... it really lacks IMO. It's not geared for "let me show my family this" exactly. I find something that has a more traditional album setup like picasa good for that, and hence smugmug or zenfolio would work better (picasa is too limiting, but it's free).

I tend to use Google for posting images for friends and family since its really easy to use and free. I should probably post more on flickr for the community and exposure aspects.

COMPLETELY forgot about Picasa. I was using that before I switched computers last year. Thanks for the reminder. I think I have an album out there somewhere already. :D

Hmmm... I've been in the habit of using Photobucket for awhile, because I blog a lot. But it looks like I'll have to check Flickr out.

that's the free version. There are a lot of limits on the free version actually, only 200 photos in your photostream, 3 sets, no collections. The year cost is only $25, so I find it well worth it, but that isn't for everyone.

Edit: Oh, and join the AT group on Flickr! http://www.flickr.com/groups/anandtechforums/
hey, i just joined the group last night and i added a few things. however, they don't show on the group's link when i'm not signed in. i've added them to the pool and when i'm not signed in, i can still see them on my own photostream. what the heck am i doing wrong?

edit -- it seems they were just having issues over the weekend. it looks like they might have things sorted out now.
