PHOTO GURUS: quick question ...

purbeast0

No Lifer
I'm doing some resizing for a friend who knows nothing about computers, and when I look at his images on the preview on windows, there is no date present. But when I open it in photoshop, there is the date in red in the bottom corner, stamped to the picture.

How do I get the date off of the picture, if there is a way at all?

THanks.

EDIT:

but it's the red time stamp that just shows up on the bottom right corner from sony cameras.

the strange thing is you said it only appears in photoshop? well that could be fixed easily with clone stamp tool, but again, i cant help since i dont have it

No it appears when I open it with any viewer. I guess I should be more specific ...

when I am in windows explorer and single click the photo, and see its details on the left, the thumbnail preview there is the one that doesn't show the time stamp at all.

sorry if it was mixed up with the program called "preview" heh.

eh maybe windows autocrops it to fit in the thumbnail? In any case, clone stamp is a good bet.

correct me if i'm wrong, but if it's already been stored as a jpg, then you can only use editing software to fix it- i.e., no timestamp on/off button.

well it's definitely not cropped out in the little thumbnail preview because I can see the stuff it overlaps.

here is the picture in question (and I have a lot more like it too)

There is probably a preview copy of the picture saved within the jpg, it's part of the exif thumbnail.

Yep, the EXIF thumbnail doesn't have a date stamp. The camera probably created the thumbnail, then added the datestamp to the picture.

Only way to remove the date is to clone over it. And tell your friend to turn off that function, it's already part of the metadata in the EXIF.

thanks man!

however I have about 20 mroe pics to resize and I think I am going to just crop the pic to remove the time stamp corner because it really doesn't make too much of a difference.

Do you have Photoshop CS2? If so, use the Spot Heal brush. Not as quick as cropping, but it will preserve your pictures.

Oh hell dude thats an easy fix.

Did that in 10 mins with MS paint. Didn't even need to go to photoshop for that.

edit: damn... someone beat me to it 😛
