I am trying to decide what size to make the images on my web gallery. I have something like 1200+ photos and I am debating what size to make them. It is down to 800x600 and 1024x768 now.

If you have the space ... host more than one size. Makes it user-friendly for all :)

Definitely nothing larger than 1024x768.

I vote 800x600 unless you are PRINTING the photos.

QFT :)

but i'd say 800x600.. just because i don't like to have full screen browser windows open. what are you planning on using for your gallery?

I use a program called Jalbum to generate the albums which I then upload to my domain hosted on hostpc. I am mainly going to use this to show my travels to my family and friends so they stop bugging me for post cards.

Mine are pretty small on my web site (495x330) for two reasons: 1) Conserve bandwidth, 2) To "fit" within the design of the site.

It use to be that you would click on a thumbnail and a new window would open with an 800x600 image. I got a lot of complaints for that, so now I use iFrames.

if you only have a basic account, then i'd just go w/ 800x600 to save some space w/ all those images. jAlbum is actually pretty nice.. needs some slight tuning w/ some of their themes. trying to find something to use myself other than gallery/cpg.... I don't think anyone has what I want :)

I really like it. The only two problems I have had are #1 the ftp function doesn't really work all that well it usually times out updating my site..but I am also generally on a sattelite connection or slow ass overseas DSL so that might have something to do with it.

#2 it would probably be a lot faster if it wasn't Java
