[Phoronix] Vulkan Benchmarks

Nice improvement for both sides. Hopefully means steamos games will get some nice gains in future.

Their performance drops by less than 5% at 4k compared to 1080p? Did they misconfigure the max. rendered resolution slider again?

Otherwise, nice to see these boosts.

It'd definitely be nice for us penguin fans to have a (sane!) choice of GFX vendor 🙂

Still going to be an awful lot of things running on Open GL for a good while though, so probably not much of a choice just yet.

Think what's going on with Windows 10 makes sure they'll at least try and keep SteamOS around for a good while.

Maybe there is not as much mantle code in Vulkan as some had thought. Maybe it didn't matter either way.

Maybe you can't draw conclusions about Vulkan solely by looking at Linux drivers. But you know that anyway. I feel dirty for even responding to this troll account.

The devs said that this vulkan patch is more like a "quick wrapper" than an actual vulkan coded game. Good to see that both IHV gain performance compared to their opengl performance.

Please keep in mind that they are using the new AMDGPU driver.

The version Phoronix tested is the first version with Vulkan support and as some AMD devs said it does lack some OpenGL performance improvements. This could explain the big difference between OpenGL and Vulkan.

AMDGPU is AMD's open source linux driver and it was tested against Nvidia's propriety driver. BTW your signature gave me a good laugh.😎
