Phones with bad ESN still work on wifi and android market?

Hey guys, do you know if phones with Bad ESNs still connect to wifi and the android market fine? I am developing android apps was thinking about getting 1 or 2 off ebay so I can check how well my apps work on slower and faster phones. Since the ones with bad ESNs have a tendency to go for cheaper, I thought they were a good route to go. Thanks!

You can also usually flash them to Metro PCS and they'll work fine, Metro doesn't have access to the bad ESN database of other carriers.

craigslist usually has some folks willing to flash for you.
