Phoneline Networking & Lost Packets

I have 3 computers, one server and two clients, call them client1 and client2. The server is running Win2k Pro, client1 is running Win98SE, and client2 is running Win2k Pro.

I have set up ICS between server and client1, but client2 is giving me problems. All the computers show up in "Workgroup", but oddly when I try to access client2 from server, or server from client2 it says the computer is unavailable or something to that effect. The server and client1 can always access each other. Also, when I try to ping client2 from either the server or client1, I get lost packets. Out of the 4 packets that ping sent, only 1 or 2 are received. Is this a problem with the wiring in my house? I have 3 floors. The server is in the basement, client1 is on the first floor, and client2 is on the second floor. Is the distance between them too long possibly?

Yeah, try the patch cable thing.

I found that sometimes when I used cheap splitters I would get unreliable connections. Spend 2 bux more on a splitter and it was full speed.

CTR - Can you give me more information on these RJ-11 patch cables? Currently, all the computers are just plugged into the wall jacks, not connected directly like normal CAT-5 cable.
